Acupuncture

Dr. Gomez is proficient in three different styles of acupuncture, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Japanese Meridian Therapy developed by Kiiko Matsumoto, and Acupuncture Physical Medicine developed by Mark Seem.

All three styles use the ancient “jing-luo” meridian system to regulate and balance the body’s energy. Current scientific research has demonstrated that acupuncture can boost the immune response, alleviate pain, normalize muscle function and alter resting muscle tone, improve connective tissue extensibility, and modulate the nervous system to aid in healing and recovery from injury.

Frequently, Cameron uses an integrated approach blending Western Trigger Point Therapy with a palpation-based meridian style of Classical Chinese acupuncture. He is especially interested in using acupuncture to alleviate pain, restore normal function & neurophysiology to dysfunctional muscles, reduce central and peripheral nervous system hypersensitivity, and to help the body regain homeostasis. His unique needling style is highly informed by his knowledge of functional anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, and over a decade of experience as an Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist.

Each 60 minute acupuncture session is individually tailored to the patient’s chief complaint / condition, current goals, treatment preferences, and takes into account his or her physical activity level and past medical history so as to develop the optimal acupuncture plan of care to improve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
