MOVEMENT & STRENGTH TRAINING

Cameron strongly believes that complete recovery from injury requires awareness and attention to how your body moves.  He uses a variety of therapeutic exercise & movement retraining techniques to empower his patients to develop healthy and efficient movement strategies so that they may Move Freely & Live Fully.

The way we move is influenced by many factors including pain, injury, fatigue, and joint or myofascial restrictions, which are inherent to life, aging, sport, and occupational demand.

Because our habitual movement patterns often play a role in why we develop pain or injury, a thorough movement assessment followed by motor control training and movement re-education is essential to hasten & maximize recovery and prevent recurrence.

Cameron expects all of his patients to actively participate in their own recovery and accept responsibility for their physical wellness through consistent practice of an individualized therapeutic exercise program that is designed to optimize muscle function, increase strength, improve alignment, restore healthy posture, and develop efficient movement patterns.

Each individually tailored Home Exercise Program (HEP) is designed to:

  • Enhance muscle function

  • Regain or maintain mobility

  • Restore, maintain, or increase strength

  • Correct the muscle imbalances identified during the muscle performance & movement assessments

  • Optimize alignment

  • Normalize flexibility

  • Increase endurance

  • Improve static & dynamic posture, balance, and stability

  • Develop healthy & efficient movement patterns

And may include:

  • Motor control & stability retraining

  • Biofeedback re-training of muscle function, especially for the deep stability muscles of the spine & pelvic girdle

  • High-level ‘core stability’ training

  • Gym based resistance exercise programs to increase strength, power, endurance and aerobic fitness

  • Apparatus based stability & performance training utilizing Pilates, Cable column resistance & assistance, Physioball, Fitter, BOSU, and foam rollers

  • Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training to accelerate recovery and prevent atrophy post-operatively, and to stimulate muscle hypertrophy, improve cardiovascular fitness, and reduce pain.

  • Preventative & maintenance programs to minimize injury and maximize performance potential

  • Dance & sport specific training
